The Archabbey of St. Ottilien Mission Museum presents objects acquired by the Missionary Benedictines since 1887 during their work in East and South Africa, Korea and other countries. Originally designed as a study collection for future missionaries, the museum was later opened to the public.

Between 2011 and 2015, the collection has been subjected to a conservational restoration of the buildings and presentation. In parallel, cataloguing and scientific research on the about 5.000 objects in the inventory and a provenance research took place. With these steps, the typical "missionary collection" was adapted to modern museum standards without losing its original character.

On three levels, about 1.300 ethnological and natural history objects from the inventory are presented in a permanent exhibition; small changing showcase exhibitions show objects from the depository. The collection is complemented by topics around the historical development and the Missionary Benedictine’s fields of activity.
